This month, I’m looking forward to the Christmas lights of Houston, from the Heights to River Oaks to Downtown and beyond!

Christmas lights of Houston

Welcome to My Weekly “Women in Construction” Blog!

Hello, December! This last month of the year is my favorite time to celebrate blessings and opportunities while experiencing this festive season. What better way to count down the days to Christmas than with fun tours of the holiday lights in Houston?

Christmas lights are already sparkling and twinkling in and around our beautiful city — if you know where to look!

Enjoy the Lights of Houston at Highland Village District

I’m especially excited that today, December 6th, Highland Park Village is hosting its annual Christmas Lights Celebration and Shopping Stroll. We love building out and renovating retail establishments in and around this upscale shopping center in the River Oaks area.

According to Dane Gates of Gary Greene Realtors, “Highland Village District is home to a carefully curated collection of retailers and restaurants. Modern in outlook, timeless in appeal. The annual holiday lighting of our complex is a favorite Houston tradition, which turns the center into a wonderland of twinkling lights, attracting crowds of shoppers from around the city. We have unique decorations for Spring, Independence Day, Fall, and Christmas.

Tour River Oaks

As a River Oaks District commercial construction contractor, I enjoy sightseeing in this prominent neighborhood, especially this time of year. Get into the spirit with opulent displays of holiday lights on majestic oaks and beautiful homes. These magnificent visuals draw tourists from near and far.

Visit Downtown Houston

Through Sunday, December 31, check out the lights of Downtown. According to, there are 11 holiday attractions from Discovery Green to the Theater District and beyond that offer seasonal wonders. The walk-through tunnel at Winter Wonderland along Bagby Street, Jingle Town at the new Lynn Wyatt Square in the Theater District, and plenty of holiday fun around Discovery Green and George R. Brown await!

Space Center Houston’s “Out of this World” Experience

Galaxy Lights – Space Center Houston provides evenings of fun through January 7, 2024. Buy tickets to “create out-of-this-world memories with a holiday experience beyond imagination!”

Enjoy the Zoo!

TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights is a seasonal favorite through January 7. Buy tickets early for the best pricing, and see the FAQ for information about food, parking, and more!

Check out Sugar Land

Sugar Land Holiday Lights include 3.5 million lights, 10 themed areas, shopping, food, movie nights, and Santa through December 23rd. Also, new this year is a snow slide and snow play area on December 8-10 and December 15-25 (buy tickets for these events).

Make the Trip to Katy

The Light Park in Katy is a wonderful light show experience, and while you’re at it, buy tickets for the Magical Winter Lights at Katy Mills Mall. These will surely be popular attractions for kids and families now through the end of the month.
