Development with Danielle

Development with Danielle©—you’ll find me wearing a suit in boardrooms and a hard hat on construction sites in Houston and throughout Texas.

Welcome to another round of Development with Danielle! The message this week has to do with personal involvement in our communities and our industry.

Right Choice Construction has grown exponentially in the last seven years for two important reasons: we spread goodwill and good work throughout Houston and beyond.

Goodwill in the Community — Connect, Serve, and Grow

Chances are, you are incredibly busy building your skills in the trades. You might be looking for employment. You might be bidding jobs. As we build our reputations through hard work and dedication, carving out time for our community is also a path to success. Find organizations that need your support and share your passions, and jump in!

I’m busy running a commercial construction company, but I’m never too busy to volunteer. Yes, it’s a sacrifice of my time and energy, but WOW—helping others has helped me personally and professionally. It’s transformed my life and my company on many levels.

My personal interests revolve around business development, so it made sense to get active in several Chambers of Commerce and serve on the executive board of the Katy Area Economic Development Council. But your interests might be animal advocacy, support for seniors (Meals on Wheels), Big Brothers and Sisters, or the arts. Your efforts build goodwill and impact lives, which is priceless, and also establishes you as a person who goes above and beyond.

Industry Involvement as a Woman-Owned Business

The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is a great organization that expands opportunities for women entrepreneurs. I recommend that you slowly but surely join other organizations too. My company has jumped through many hoops and vetting processes to join amazing organizations such as the Retail Contractors Association and the International Facility Management Association. We are looking into more construction-centric memberships and affiliations that bring value to our company and further establish us as a premier commercial general contractor.

Your Online Footprint

Why not market yourself on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn? The effort that goes into building an online presence can definitely draw jobs and recognition. These free platforms are great for jumpstarting connections—and I hope you follow me! Speaking of effort, my blog, Development with Danielle, is a labor of love. Even though it’s very new, it has drawn interest on social media in our niche community of women in the trades and construction in general.

We are pleased that Right Choice is mentioned twice in GC Magazine, first as one of the Best Tenant Improvement (office) Contractors in Houston and more recently as one of the Best Retail Contractors in Houston, Texas. It’s an honor to earn media coverage, especially digital media coverage, in a competitive market.

You can view a sample of our portfolio here, which spans our retail, office, and industrial work.

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time…
